People have always thought that the world will end and things are terrible.
I had a sort of hobby of reading old books from say 1900.
Bicycles were all the rage and they felt young ladies would go to hell now that they could get away. Going parking on a bike?????
I recall another book saying that in NYC if they did not switch to electric trucks people would be buried in horse manure.
I just recalled a book where they predicted the end of humans because wood was the fuel of choice and Europe was running out of it. History they converted to coal, later to oil now to solar, wind, gas, atomic etc etc etc.
There have always been problems. There have always been solutions that yes cause new un-thought of problems.
