I used to church hop quite a bit in Reno, Nevada. I even tried the Unification Church after Jerome Childress was approaching students coming out of the Humanties Building on the University of Nevada, Reno Campus. He said they were having Philosophical Discussions across the street ina house. I did not connect Unification Church with Moonies at the time.
I put the presented in tears after a few logical chops via Socratic questioning. Strike One.
I went the next week and was presented with a strikingly beautiful woman with the possibility of a friendship. Then they started bugging me about a weekend retreat. I said no. Strike Two.
Jerome Childress would call my parents telling them to stop brainwashing me against them. I picked up one of these calls and used some language a sailor would be proud of in many ways. Strike Three!
Jerome Childress was the Head of the Northern Nevada Chapter of the Unification Church. A good looking charming African-American.
One of their big things was stopping racism by putting whites and non-whites in arranged marriages.
All this probably took place around 1979.
