Need air circulation in my kitchen ?'s

Hello,
Our kitchen needs more air circulating. I tend to cook a lot. Thinking of a ceiling fan but wonder�.
1. Any other ideas?
2. Will the fan make odd shadows on the counters due to the recessed lighting?
Any help will be appreciated.
