You're right, they are not "treated equally", they're treated
specially, in what many call reverse discrimination.
I had the highest qualifications for a job back in the '70's, but was told by the board that I had to endure and wait because they were being sued for not having enough minorities to fill a quota. They actually lowered their requirements so they could hire those minorities. I came back every year for five years for that position before I got it. And most of those hired instead, were no longer there.
Another incident of discrimination was my cousin, now deceased. He was a fire fighter in a big city. He took the promotion exam and did very well. So did several other "white" members. They were skipped over so they could promote minority members that did not have their scores. He was lucky because he and the seven other members that were skipped over, sued the city and eventually won a discrimination suit. He was given two promotions and back pay. Several of the others were already retired by the time they won, and got back pay.
The government is also guilty of discrimination. I checked a promotion list and found out that the ONLY persons promoted in one area, were minorities either female, black or oriental.
Affirmative action is discrimination, no matter what you wish to call it. To be treated equally is NOT to have special treatment. To be treated fairly, advancement should be based on merit, NOT race, gender or especially sexual deviation.
Now, if you construe this a being bigoted, then I feel for you. You must have grown up in a very protected environment. I am not going to apologize for being white, but I am not going to disparage minorities either.
I do not slander minorities, but I will not give them special treatment either. As far as your beef regarding women, they get paid the same as men for the same jobs. That is a federal law. It is not my problem if they spend much time off with their children when the child is sick or when the lady wishes to have children. That is their prerogative. It's their choice. It is NOT my problem and I do not feel that they should be given special treatment in the workplace. A business needs employees to survive and if their important employee can't come to work, then the business suffers. Business does not make profit by coddling special groups.
This forum is here for the purpose of discussing political issues. If you want to make everything personal, that's to your detriment. If our resident racist wishes to make everything a "minority" issue, that is going to take it's toll on his health eventually. I prefer to ignore him, rather than argue with him. You are not going to convince him out of his many years of bigoted philosophy. He has set his mind and it is useless to bother with his ilk.
I do not, or seldom agree with you but I do not take our differences personal. You have a liberal manner of seeing things and I have a more conventional and conservative way of looking at life. We differ, and that's what makes America great. But, do not attempt to group all of us as one group, based on the actions, bile that comes from only one poster on here.
