Default Re: Travel Insurance

This scenario happened this window. I will relate the adventures or misadventures as they were related to me.

My clients decided to leave four days prior to their cruise. We live in the Mid Hudson Valley of NY and they were flying to Fort Lauderdale. Since they had a very early morning flight and snow was predicted on the day of their flight they decided to stay at an airport hotel the night before.

When they arrived at the airport, they were informed that their flight was cancelled along with all flights leaving this area, there were no flights coming into the airport because of the snow storm. They had tickets on Jet Blue and according to the representative of Jet Blue they would not be able to fly out for two days. This was due to the number of people who had to be reschedule not only at the local airport but many other airports. They were also informed that they could not get tickets on any of the other airlines operating from this airport for the same reason.

They called the insurance company that I work with and they had bought insurance with - CSA - and the travel agent there was able to get them tickets the following day to Florida. The insurance company paid for the hotel, meals and the tickets.

Please remember when you are planning to go on a cruise in the winter it is advisable to leave more than one day in case of inclement weather. If there is a major snow storm, flights coming and going from other airports can be cancelled. This can create a back up of passengers getting to their destination.
