The tax thing is overblown. I am right now doing a Category 5 remodeling which is the big one, remove the sliding doors and track, pour concrete to level the lanai floor with the rest of the house, add electrical outlets and ceiling lights, add new e-glass floor to ceiling windows, drywall and paint, tile the floor and add a Mitsubishi air conditioner (which is called a dehumidifier). This is on a Lantana home with a 12 by 26 lanai.
The annual tax increase will be $196.

Agree, but to some here $196.00 is a bunch.
