Another thing to consider is that by living near a town square you'll hear the music quite frequently. It may be at a distance, but it is still a noise. If you live very close to a rec center, be prepared to hear the pickleball thunk, thunk. Close to country clubs means the smell of food wafting through your neighborhood when the wind is right. A golf course view comes with the joys of hearing golfers converse, the joys of strangers going on your property to retrieve their balls and the risk of your home being damaged by an errant swing. There are disadvantages to living close to almost any facility. The reality is that no village or location is perfect but they're almost all pretty darn good. Figure out what you want/need in a house and the price you can afford. Features really do matter here, much more so than location.
