I believe the water here is 'safe' to drink.
As for the taste and smell however, it falls woefully short for some of those of us who are used to a better source for public water. That pretty much goes for most of Florida IMHO however...so is not endemic to just The Villages.
You'll just have to make that determination for yourself.
