However, I agree with the analysis that snopes came up with that the changes noted in the above email were years in the making, not just the result of the whims of one political party. And even the assertion that the Democrats are in charge is certainly questionable. Democrats control the House, there is a tie in the Senate, and we have a Republican President.

I would think a person would have to look at the references that snopes cites as well. In the tax piece, for example, snopes cites The Tax Foundation, a non- partisan tax research group located in Washington. Seems like an valid technical resource to me.
