The OP said her and her husband were not mechanically inclinded. Yes, the system with the door as part of the unit would be more convenient, however with convenience comes extra work. In fact, the next post down the OP replied,
"When I saw the picture on the box, I new this was what I wanted but my sanity kicked in and I just bought a metal can and called it a day."
It's the old phrase, KISS "Keep it simple stupid" a metal step thrash can was the best answer. This is what we have in our CYV kitchen as well, works great and doesn't take up a lot of space.
