He is doing what he is paid to do. If he doesn't keep interest in his show, he won't be doing it anymore. I don't think psychology is an exact science and I am not sure how much applied psychology can do to help screwed up people but I think Dr. Phil says a lot of things most people agree with, does a good job getting to the heart of a problem and has a lot of common sense.
But having said that, sometimes I cringe when it gets a Jerry Springer flavor or he is touting his wife's crusade too much, not that I don't understand how we all need to help and protect battered women and men.
I think that the Dr. Phil show is getting getting to be too much too. But we watch it, a lot of us anyhow. People are very complex for sure.
