There is no shortage of grocery stores in the area. Publix at Colony, Lake Deaton and Grand Traverse. Not to mention the Winn Dixie at Pinellas Plaza. I dont know why people think they need to have a grocery store 1/4 mile from their house. The Lake Deaton Publix is the best. Never crowded (in fact, just the opposite), large, clean, and very well stocked.
