The vinyl siding has wood sheathing and wood 2X4's behind it. I just removed all the siding on my lanai when I changed out the sliders with French Doors. Easy to remove the siding. Start at the top. You would probably only have to remove a couple of pieces. I have the tool to start the removal but didn't need it.
