There are many shelters that offer opportunities to rescue a lovable little doggy.
Some have puppies. Or you can adopt an older dog that comes toilet trained and walks nicely on a leash.
www.petfinders.com allows you to specify a breed. Or you could google maltese rescues in Florida.
Please think rescue. There are small doggies that would be forever grateful for a loving home.
Some rescue organizations don't have a shelter, all the dogs are in foster homes.
Some visit The Villages weekly with their available dogs.
