While I've never personally used a financial planner, I hearken back to Lee Trevino's comment regarding swing instructors....
"I'll hire [an instructor] when I find one who can beat me."
I'm not saying I've been perfect or made all good decisions in my investing, but I think I would want some proof of the individuals personal success in their own portfolio...before I used one.
Especially in this day and age where the internet can give you so much information...AND so much conflicting advice.
That's just my view on it.
