Based on your photo, I'm guessing young cottonmouth/water moccasin....but it could be a water snake (hard to tell apart).

If it's a cottonmouth/water moccasin, they are poisonous and in spite of what the 'experts' say I have found them to be aggressive (standing on shore and having them turn to swim back to me)...so be careful.
