Also sprint may need to unlock your phone, which I believe is there obligation. If necessary have them unlock it before you switch.
You can also put in someone else's sim card to see if it's unlocked.

Unfortunately, I spend most of my time in Michigan and Sprint works fine there. I will have to see if Cricket is available in Michigan.
Sprint did walk me through a "boost' for my Michigan service and it helped a lot. I need to see if I need to do the "boost" here.
