Risperadol is a second generation antipsychotic similar to Haldol. Even the outpatient psychiatrist reads "psychotic" and just ups the dose of risperadol. It takes her hours and hours to talk to you about the problem, but only 30 seconds to write a new RX.
Also, as you found out, a malpractice case under these circumstances is welcomed by lawyers like the plague. All that happens is the defense puts the plantiff on trial, tears you apart on the witness stand, and the chances of finding a jury that is not prejudiced against mental illness is minimal. We have a long way to go before we completely understand this family of illness and develop effective treatment.

Almost all the lawyers I contacted in Florida refused to represent me as they said I would have to be severely injured or dead for them to get paid. There was one in Chicago with offices in Tampa that seemed to get what was going on and they wanted to just go after everyone connected to my story. That would have been too hard on my family.
I did have Tom Cruise on my e-mail list for a few years and I suspect he did read some of those e-mails. He did go a little too overboard though and there are probably many stories like mine he heard about. Even had someone claiming to be George Clooney contact me while I was posting on Findlaw but that might just have been the libido of Vanessa D., a Lifetime Research Assistant who had been questioning me about doing a Lifetime story on all this. He said "I am George Clooney and I am dating Vanessa" or something like that in an e-mail. He did want to hear quite a bit about what was going on.
I have been running this story by Hollywood since at least 1992 maybe even 1991 but to reflect whatever was happening at that time.
Hollywood can spotlight a problem in very creative ways and often very subtle ones.
Vanessa D, is a very attractive woman BTW so she could have been telling the truth. She's still around. Not in CA nor FL though.
You are right about this outpatient psychiatrist being a 30 second one. She did not want to listen. So I tried a psychologist recommended by a Palm Harbor Library Volunteer Director and he had me take some tests but only talked to me for a very short time. I even lied on the test about some stuff trying to appear normal. He did confer with the pill pushing 30 second psychiatrist with my permission. After my taking one test and talking to this man trying to appear as sane as possible this man said he could sign me up for disability and recommended a Social Security Disability Lawyer. I told the disability lawyer flat out that I was not disabled and he dropped the case. A lot of this was just for family harmony. Going to this psychologist-- who seemed like he was ripping off the government-- along with the Social Security Disability Lawyer. He also seemed quite questionable.
I refused to go back to that quack of a psychologist.
