Default Yellow Jacket
It is a Yellow Jacket, a type of wasp. The other well known member of the wasp family is the Hornet. Having experienced both Yellow Jacket and Hornet stings, I can tell you that the Hornet sting was much more painful. I went to the ER to be treated for the Hornet sting.

Yellow Jackets are very common in Florida. If you swat at one, it is prone to attack you. If you are around them, just walk away. If you discover one of their nests around your house you can spray it with a special insecticide can designed to shoot wasp nests from over 15 feet away. Spray thoroughly and then walk away because some of them will be swarming around.
