My understanding is the battery minder is made for "desulfating batteries" and should be used when one is away for a goodly period of time.

It is a trickle charge so one must not be fooled to think one's battery doesn't need a regular charge. My computer chip turns off the heavy duty charge automatically so the battery is never overcharged. Some people may tell you that a heavy duty charge will fry your batteries. Not so, as long as you computer chip is working properly.

I was told by the person who installed my battery minder in my garage that one could use the battery minder if one drove less than 15 miles a day. I have found if one blindly follows this rule for several days, (two or more), the power in the batteries work but it really needs a heavy duty charge.

I haven't gotten stuck in three years due to a dead battery. A flat tire but not a dead battery.
