As a veteran (100% military disabled total and permanent: Life member VFW, DAV) I disagree with the privatization of VA care, because the private section will look for government dollars to pay for the 'private' outside doctors. Let me tell you, my last year, and remember I am 100%, where I currently live, 1/3 of the time I was sent outside for care that the VA could not do within 30 days. For my PT I was sent to a YMCA group. For Orthopedic Surgery... 20 miles away. I have to take a taxi. Even though the VA would pay my travel, its 20 miles, so 45$ each way up front, I wouldn't do it.

The VA doctors are great, better than the average (for most part). Problem is they can't handle load. VA employees know they have a job they can't get fired from so many treat veterans like 'then just don't care'. More veteran pro-active supervisors, more doctors, LESS outside doctors us vets are sent to is what I think.

I am not the minority, we like VA doctors. Maybe Koch Brothers kick into supporting the VA. VA can be fixed.

VA doctors are doctors, no different then others, and many are teaching doctors too so they are always learning.

my 2 cents (and that is all it is worth)
