Let us not forget that your government does this to us too...it's called "manufactured consent" where they use the media to convince everyone that everyone else is thinking the same way. Advertisers, entertainment, they all do it...anyone trying to "sell" you something works hard to make it seem like everyone else is buying it...be it a product OR an idea. It's the basis of fads and hyping something to sell it.
A keeping up with the Jones' kind of thing thing. If the government, education, neighbors, all think diversity is good...it's hard to resist not thinking the same way...even though it's an obvious lie when really examined.
Social media is great for this type of thing.
