I believe plenty was gained:
WI was paid 3.5 million to reassure that Trump was the winner...
Stein estimated the attorney fees would be somewhere at 2-3 million, I am sure they have added her name to their Xmas list...
She has changed her tune a few times with regard to what will be done with the left over money. Now remember she only raised 3 million for her election fund, this is more money to her than she has ever had control of. Currently she is claiming that the left over money will be donated to charities and she will allow the donors to pick which charity but no time line has been given. If she has the money in an interest bearing account; 4% interest on the $4.5 million is $180K a year (her and her husband reported earnings of $302K in 2015...), if she does not have it in an interest bearing account she surely has made the bankers Xmas list... I believe this part of her endeavor will probably guarantee her some scrutiny from the FEC, possibly sometime in 2017.
