I am one of maybe 5 people in the world not on Facebook. I know I am a dinosaur still posting on a forum and then repeating complaints about something that seems like it can't be fixed. The overriding posts need to be corralled somehow where they do not fill the first two pages and sometimes more. There are fewer and fewer threads on TV topics and topics of general interest now.

But I realize I am not the one running this railroad. (sigh)
If you use Today's Posts when you log on, the political threads will show up. They are working on that. I find the Hide Classified button works for me and I don't have to hit it more than once when I log in. But I do have to hit it every time I log in as it doesn't hold for future visits. I just noticed that if you hit the Show Classifieds button for some reason, the ads come back accompanied by the political threads.
