Trump made the announcement on Christmas Eve when he thought nobody would be paying attention that he is shutting down his foundation.
Unfortunately for Trump, NY AG Schneiderman was paying attention and said not so fast Donald. It seems foundations cannot be shut down while they are under active investigation for committing fraud.
It seems that Trump was soliciting funds from others and using the money for his own purposes, buying portraits of himself and paying legal bills.
Just another example of the morals of the future leader of the free world. Hopefully, he will be ordered to return all the money to these unsuspecting donors.
