A guess that is HALF A MILLION dollars in medical expense to keep a person alive so that the state can kill him.
Perhaps, even more important, SOMEONE ELSE NOT ON DEATH ROW DIED BECAUSE THAT HEART WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
In China prisoners who EARN the death penalty are shot. Thus they can AND DO harvest organs for transplant. Lethal injections makes the organs useless for tranplant.
