Meryl Streep is a great actress. Donald Trump is wrong on that account. But being able to pretend that your someone else does not qualify you to run the country. It does not mean that your opinion on how things should be done is better than other's opinions. It does not mean that you are smarter than everyone else. What it means is that you have a talent in a very narrow area and that you are one of the very, very lucky people with talent that happened to be in the right place at the right time.

There are millions of extremely talented people. The ones that become famous are simply fortunate to be discovered. They were in the right place at the right time. There are millions of guitarists that can play like Eric Clapton. I know, I've met and played with some of them. There are millions of actresses that can act as well as Meryl Streep. The ones that we know, like Meryl Streep, are simply lucky. They were in the right place at the right time and had someone "discover" them. That doesn't mean that their opinion is more valid than anyone else's. It just means that they are in a position to make that opinion known to a lot more people than the rest of us.

Meryl, shut up about politics and be grateful that you're one of the lucky ones. Continue to make great movies that entertain us but then keep your mouth shut.
