These social justice warriors never consider the consequences to a nation for their excesses. Name it civil rights, same sex rights (actually not a right but who is counting) climate change, entitlements, political correctness. Here is another example.

The progressives sought to push through a law termed "hate crimes" solely to protect well their "protected class". Now who wouldn't agree that people should not hate. Personally I disagreed because a crime is a crime and all crime develops from some sort of hate ( ie a person, authority, a bank). So what was the benefit in labeling some crimes as hate and other crimes just as crimes?

Hence the predicted result of over reaching showed its ugly head again and an organization called Black Lives Matter hit the horizons.

You see the perception of the minority community was reinforced with their belief that they are the only targets, so forth and so forth and that only black lives matter and no others.

Essentially what progressives have done by creating "hate crimes" is to punished people not only for what they do but also because of what they think.

So the consequences at minimum can be twofold 1) an unexplained disparity in the sentencing of a hate crime vis a vis the same exact crime not labeled a hate crime and 2) it is a short leap to begin punishing people just for what they think.

A columnist, Heather Mac Donald did an article citing national statistics that refute the biases being pushed by progressives and the harm this misinformation causes the black community.

One can argue the statistics to claim a win quantitatively. However qualitatively the emergence of an organization like Black Lives Matters and the intentional killing of police officers nationally makes the case that a crime by any other name is just a crime and the person despite creed ,color orientation is still a victim and suffers consequences equally.
