We all ask the question, "Why do they hate us". I am talking about the countries of the Middle East and the Muslim world. There is good reason.
In 1953 our country deposed the only democratic government Iran ever had. Violent intervention by the US put a despot, terrible dictator in it's place. If the US had not had not sent agents to depose Mohammad Mossadegh, Iran would probably have continued along its path toward full democracy. It could have become the first democracy in that region of the world. Reza Shah ruled with the support of the US. He was a despot and terrified his people with torture and death to all who opposed him. He was not their choice, he was ours.
And sadly today we have not learned and continue along this path.
We support Israel to the extent that we have alienated the Palestinians and the rest of the Middle eastern countries. We have blood on our hands and are blind to the chaos that we have caused. President Obama did his best to try to rectify these wrongs only to be critized by the right. Now ignorance and bigotry have risen to the top again as we have a tyrant leader elected by uninformed and selfish electorate. What is our future. How can we change things. Get involved and become aware of what is happening to this great nation of ours. I fear we are on a path to destruction with the likes of our current leadership.
