I went to law school at the U of MN in 1986-1989 and worked at the Law Library from about January 1988 through June of 1991.

Keith Ellison was in the Class of 1990 like my girlfriend/roommate/prisoner clinic Legal Assistance to Minnesota Prisoners student Jennifer V. I do not remember much about him just that he was ambitious-- he wanted to be a United States Supreme Court Justice. I do recall he was a Muslim at that time but it was hardly a big deal. I am aware of several Jews who are now quite prominent lawyers one of whom was my Co-Director for the Minnesota Correctional Facility-- Stillwater. She was/is half Native American and the other have Jew and the daughter of a well known Native American rights lawyer/advocate. Mr. Ellison might have made comments about Jews in law school but I have no knowledge of these.

I know nothing of the man who got the Chair of the Democratic Committee but the Democrats do have a lot of work to do if they are going to be able to relate to people at the grass roots level.
