We loved renting kayaks in Dunellon and going down the Rainbow River. It took us about 2.5 hours for the kayak trip and then we had lunch at Swampys, where they had great jumbalaya.

We also had a very nice day trip to Homosassa Springs. After visiting the park, we went to the highly recommended Freezer for lunch but it was too disgusting even for us. Then we went to the Riverside Crab House for a wonderful meal where we enjoyed watching the pelicans flying very low along the river. It was a great day.

Silver Springs in Ocala is also very nice. The boat ride is great but there were less fish than there were when we went in 1971. The food service is not good, so bring your own lunch.

We always like going to Inverness. The drive is very pretty, Fort Cooper has some very nice hiking trails, the lakes near city hall have very good boardwalks, and there are nice places to eat - Stumpknockers, Motor City Pasta, Deco Cafe, Hen house.
