Last I had heard, I believe from the Geeks as well as an independent repair guy, was that a laptop should not remain plugged in all of the time as the continual charging reduces the life of the battery. I typically let my Dell run down to the point where a pop-up indicates that there is 10% more charge remaining and it is time to plug it in.
