You should be fine using it. At $50 a bag, you definitely don't want to pitch it unless you absolutely have to. This is my first time fertilizing palms. We have large Sylvesters which are 65" in diameter. Needless to say, I was shocked when I read the directions which call for 1/2 to 1 lb of fertilizer for every inch of trunk diameter. I'll be headed back to SiteOne in Monday to buy two more bags.
