[QUOTE=Guest]I went back and read my post. My generalization of saying Obamma bought and paid for the import steel could be misleading.. My post was not intended to be inaccurate, that was a mistake in my choice of wording. What I should have typed was Obamma signed off on the pipeline without specifying that US steel would be used, and thus; Obamma's lack of thought is responsible for the purchase of import steel that is stock piled along the pipeline's course.

And this is also "misleading" President Obama [not Obamma] never signed off on the pipeline. He refused to approve it until all the data including environment impact was available. And once all the data was available, he said no. The pipes that are already purchased were bought by the private companies who want to build the pipeline. Obama never told them to buy or not buy ahead of time.

Private business involved in the oil industry buys foreign steel pipes. Obama says no pipeline. Oil industry waits for change in administration. Trump says if I am president we will build the pipeline and it will be built with US steel. Trump wins and issues order approving the pipeline and insisting on US steel. A few days pass. Trump now says no need to buy new US steel pipes.

Or he could keep his promise and say, my approval of the pipeline will be revoked if you do not buy new US steel pipes as that is what I promised the voters. Oil industry spends a few million buying US steel from their profits. Cost to US taxpayers, nothing. So why did Trump not keep his word? Who got him to change his mind? Only one industry benefits from this broken promise... Big Oil.
