If you are looking for a reason, look simply at Ukraine, etc..their borders and how NATO is the only thing contains them from doing what they want. for me, that's the only reason.
Nuke war is a done deal...meaning that has little meaning in today's world.
Hell, with proper computer strength, they could just shut us down. The world has changed

Several air bursts and the country is paralyzed. We could retaliate...and then EVERYONE is screwed. They KNOW this. I've heard the REAL nuclear deterrent is the nuking of the poles. That's what the "dead man" switch connects to. A "f@ck the world" last volley to the poles. Greenland and the Antarctic. Melt the ice and drown EVERYONE.
