He tries to boast and lecture on his soapbox, because he has deep-seated inferiority issues and thinks that maybe he can bolster that insecurity...by bloviating on a small bulletin board.

I feel sorry for him in one way, as I can't imagine living in constant fear that intelligent people will see right through and expose his pseudo-intellectual bloviating...and call him out for what he is.
