Let's continue to put our nation's wealth into oil, and while we're at it, let's continue to be the worlds leader in the use of consumer throw away merchandise. If we truly want to become oil independent by some time in the future, we need to stop being dependant on oil period.

Stop producing the big gas guzzling cars, and recreational boats. Invest in clean renewable energy forms. Promote and inspire the inventions and ideas that will take us away from the dirty combustion engines of today. And we all need to stop using so many of the following products, or at least find alternative products that are not oil based.

It won't be easy, but we need to start. It's time to tell the huge oil lobby (probably funded by OPEC) in DC to take a hike. I believe more than ever, this country needs sweeping change. The old status quo just will not work in a global economy. I sure don't have all the answers, but I do know it will not come from either the Republicans or Democrats. It's not going to be some hero from the right or left. It's going to you and me and the rest of us who have an honest desire to reach above politics.
