Once in the spring after the potential for frost is gone, sometime after March 15 and 6 months later. If your a snowbird whenever you get back after September 15. If your concerned about you tree take some pictures to the big nursery on 301, just nothing of 466. They are very helpful and sell a good quality palm fertilizer.
Palm trees should actually be fertilized 3 times a year starting in March. Then June, and then September. Use Lesco 8-2-12 +4 or Palm Gain 8-2-12 +4. The first number is nitrogen, then phosphorus, then potassium. The + 4 is trace elements such as boron, magnesium etc. Lesco can be purchased from John Deere or Fertilizer Direct and Palm Gain can be purchased from Home Depot. This information is research based from University of Florida and UF Extension.
