Here you go. At the beginnings the Russians simply wanted to mess with US elections. As time went in, they knew the one person they did not want elected was Clinton, thus they were prepared to try and "hurt" whomever was her opponent. They did not think Trump had a shot, BUT and this the murky part being investigated....knowing they wanted Clinton to lose, their efforts were to hurt her, ala hacks. Now when Trump got close, it was time to seal the deal....enter WIKILEAKS.....the info was fed to them (Wikileaks) and then publicly released. This has all been affirmed.

The investigation currently underway is partly to see the timing and contacts. A few examples of Trump campaign appearances on the day, within hours of a release of emails has been shown to show how "aware " he was of what was leaked.

You mention "fake news"....seems that was something VERY Russian and used by them in other activities around the globe. Didn't become household talk here until Trump.

This has all been confirmed and testified to in congress open session. Thus, this all had to do with hurting Clinton.

they only were helping whomever was opposing Clinton. Fake news, such as the Ryan proffered story about sex rings in pizza parlors were all part of this.
