And I believe your talking about George senior based on your dates. However that was an entirely different time. Gas was $1 a gallon, imports were only 35% of our total use, and our balance of trade was positive. So maybe back than it made some sense to do those things. However today we are at $4 a gallon, imports are 70% and we are running a negative balance of trade deficit. And yes now today it is the "green" folks who are blocking our energy Independence. I still say we need ALL types of energy. Oil, coal, wind, solar, tides, natural gas, nuclear, more drilling, more refinery capacity, oil shale, and any other type I missed. The idiots in Washington need to stop bickering about what type of energy we need and just realize we need every type. If we go after it all, at some point the best will rise to the top and become the predominant source. But doing nothing is not acceptable.
