In 1995 in Vero Beach, FL the homeowners' insurance was five grand a year. When we lived in NH, our insurance was tripled a month. The agent explained that it was because of the heavy losses suffered during the hurricane season in FL and elsewhere that year.
I agree with bjeani to get an explanation from the customer service. If nothing from them, then the State Insurance Commission or whatever it is in Florida. If all fails, shop around among different companies. You do have other choices and do not need to stick with that company.
