I believe there are a sufficient number of moderate Democrats to take control of their Party and reshape it. The radical and fringe groups of the Democratic Party are going to lose out because that is not the politic of most Americans.

Of course, in general what you say is true.
It does however apply to
BOTH parties. I might agree with you in all, except for the White House.
The President is about the most
NON civil person on the national stage. He is the President, and thus so many in his party spend time just defending his remarks.
Has there been a negative situation in congress or on the national stage that was not instigated or fueled by an uncivil or outlandish comment or accusation by the White House ?
I
do believe the Democratic Party has moved far left. I also believe that extreme Republicans fuel Trump. They embrace his non civil behavior and shun debate of any kind.
The President
knows he can lie and he will get support; he
knows he can make accusations and will get support; he knows adhering to truth is not required. THAT is extreme behavior, and is not conducive to
any debate
