Was not the body that controls spending in total control of the Republican Party ?

Was Trump the only Republican candidate who did not make one of his central points to reduce deficits ?

He actually thinks so little of his supporters that he tweeted about 6 weeks after in office that he was already responsible for reducing the debt by 12 Billion dollars. He really does not respect the intelligence of even those who,support him. He knows you accept his every word and never ever check what he says.
