Over half of my guests thank for me for the prompt response. Typically, two hours or less. That said I don't bother anymore responding to inquiries for a stay when it is something that is clearly stated I can't or won't agree to, i.e. Pets or a one week rental when I am renting by the month. Overall guests should keep in mind that most owners are just like them and can generally afford to let the home go unrented. So a lowball offer won't be well received.
