First directly to your comments. I agree no one should debate or agree to be interviewed publicly without agreement on the rules and guidelines.

As to debates, my view is a need for spontaneity because I want to gauge the honesty of the candidate; albeit a candidate should be able to anticipate the broad range of question .

As to journalist/reporters their preoccupation is to catch people they interview off guard. I have run across a few of them that had the morals of alley cats
