No...sadly there are just a few that APPEAR to be honest.
The party IS everything. It's what got them elected. It's where the orders come from. If you don't play ball...you're out...you won't get elected without your party support.
Because the president is just a talking head. The real decisions are made by the "board", those who really call the shots...those who "own" both sides...Ds and Rs.
Those "whales" put Obama there. Hillary was passed over to get Obama into the slot. She was passed over again for Trump. SOMEONE with clout doesn't want Hillary to be president...they probably don't trust her.

Not specifically in this case...but in other meetings where classified is discussed...isn't recording illegal? That leaves an unsecured, unlabeled, transcript containing classified material. As bad as Hillary and her server. They BOTH know it's unacceptable.
