I disagree, yes we all contribute to Social Security and Medicare. At the time of retirement some of us will be means tested if you have an annual income above the acceptable limit you will receive less or no benefits.
Some of us will live a long time, some shorter and some never live long enough to collect benefits.
In point of fact it was created so that American workers would have some form of continuing income after retirement.
My former company had a defined benefit pension but few companies offer that now.
Social Security and Medicare will become even more important to American workers in the future.
