A retarded person is someone who does not have full mental capacity due to no action on his or her part. Many people in The Villages have sisters or brothers, nieces or nephews or children who were born retarded. They are generally loved and treasured parts of the family. Like Redwitch who doesn't like the word Kool-Aid, I feel a bit defensive about using retarded as a descriptive word.
