Re: Research on pool contractors
Having recently retired from the swimming pool industry, allow me to make a few suggestions.
The most important thing you can do is speak with customers of the company you are planning to use. Find out if they are completing each phase of the project on time and if they can be reached when you need a question answered. Ask about warranties on your pump and filter. Also, how long is the finish warranted. See if they will install a salt generator (makes chlorine) at no charge.
Unless you are planning on pavers for your deck, see if they will guarantee it not to crack.
Ask if they will also supply an automatic cleaner.(unless you are getting a valet system, which is a built in floor cleaning system) With a cleaner and salt generator you will not need to spend a hundred or so on pool service. Make sure they install an automatic way of lowering the pool level (it's just a pipe to waste installed at the right water level). If installing a screen around pool, see if they are going to use the new type that has rebar and cement filled uprights.
If I can be of any help, please ask
