Manchester by the Sea I rated in February so I don't have a vivid memory, only that I thought it was very good. I started rating movies on IMDB.com (Internet Movie Data Base) in 2004 and I've got 2,669 movies and TV shows rated. On IMDB you rate 1 thru 10 and I gave MBTS an 8. I thought the acting was excellent, especially by Michelle Williams. The story was very slow in developing, but it held my interest.

The slowness reminded me of another Casey Affleck film, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, yes that's the real title if you haven't see it. Brad Pitt played Jesse, I gave that film a 10. Back to MBTS, I use Internet Movie Data Base as a measuring stick on whether to see a film at the theater or wait for TV. Normally a 7 or above is worth going to the theater. MBTS has a 7.9 rating from 149,185 voters on IMDB, so my 8 was right on with most voters.

I remember recently several posters on TOTV criticizing Amy Schumer's Film "Snatched", one quick look at IMDB and the rating of 3.8 from 12,000 voters would tell you to stay home and save your money.

On films now playing locally, IMDB has Dunkirk as a sure bet with an 8.6 rating from 116,000 voters, Baby Driver 8.2, War for the Planet of the Apes 8.0, Atomic Blonde 7.2 and Valerian 6.8 (what's odd is that film "Valerian" they have playing at 2 squares and Dunkirk only at LSL) Dunkirk has taken in $102 million to Valerian $30 million. Someone in The Villages theater group has dropped the ball.
